LANCASTER MEWS, BAYSWATER
This property was purchased in a very dilapidated state and completely rebuilt within the external walls. The existing trusses were salvaged and reused in the new roof structure as a reminder of what existed before.
The main challenge was to bring daylight into the house as it is land-locked on three sides by other buildings. The living accommodation was therefore located on the upper level as a large open-space with daylight to the rear from above. Voids were created in the floor to transfer light to the rear rooms at ground floor level. Finishes were kept simple and safe for the sake of saleability.
