ASPLINS FARM

CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Asplins Farm is a large Victorian cream brick farmhouse set in open countryside. Snell David was asked to replace an unused and unsightly single storey barn / stable block adjacent to the house with a new party barn / office annex.

The property lies within the green belt which restricted the height and the overall footprint of the new building. The solution was to continue the surrounding garden walls near to the entrance of the main house - creating a courtyard and reinforcing the sense of arrival to the house as well as allowing the new barn to hide behind it.

The barn is timber framed and clad in cedar on Cambridge cream stock bricks. The solution was to create a contemporary barn using traditional low maintenance materials put together to create a sharp, stunning building.
