After sensitive negotiations with the Local Authority, Snell David obtained planning consent for a sizeable extension to this spectacular Arts and Crafts house set in a village outside Dorking.

 

The scheme represents an update of the original staff accommodation and provides a stunning new space to include a cooking area, a dining area, a study area and casual sitting area - all within one large, modern, single storey extension. The extension contrasts with, but compliments the architecture of the original house. Considerable care was taken to source the right materials and proportions to enable the extension to sit comfortably with the main house yet introduce crisp up to date detailing to reflect the modern use of such a space.
