CONDERS ORCHARD

CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Snell David were asked to design a large new build house to replace an existing house situated on an extensive site located in a village conservation area and in closely proximity to a number of listed buildings.

The result is a large, handsome house takes on the image of a farmhouse in a yard surrounded by its outbuildings. In this respect, the relatively exposed position of the house is protected  - both physically and visually - from the proposed low outbuildings to the front. This arrangement also allows the house to be slowly revealed upon approach up the driveway from the north east corner around the back of the outbuildings.

The footprint of the house and the way it is arranged on the site is planned to ensure that it is not possible to see the entire house from any particular viewpoint.
