Our clients commissioned Snell David to develop ideas for a new "ecology-friendly" house with a ‘granny annexe’ on a newly acquired site outside Thaxted in Essex. An existing bungalow on the site had to be demolished to make way for the new house.

As the client is director of ‘Design For Homes’ he is in constant contact with manufacturers championing their innovative products. Consequently we had the unique challenge of integrating various pioneering construction techniques and products with a watchful eye on the goals of sustainability.
