COASTAL GEORGIAN HOME

NORTH NORFOLK

This charming, grade 2 Listed Georgian house on the Norfolk Coast had been occupied by our clients for a number of years before they decided that they would like to spend a great deal more time there. The house had been altered a fair amount over the years by previous owners but was generally in need of a top to bottom refurbishment and extensions to accommodate their growing family.

Snell David were appointed to look at ways in which the house could be sensitively enlarged, providing accommodation that was more suitable for the whole family.

The preferred design solution was to add reduced two storey extensions to each side of the front - enabling the original house to remain dominant and a larger two storey rear extension with its own singe storey side extension. The proposal adds interest to the side elevation, respecting the differing brick types and detailing of the original house (buff to principal elevations and red to the sides and rear) with the various forms stepping down as the side road descends towards the coast.
